This eBook is a bridge between South African citizens and the legal system of the country. It guides the reader as to how to use relevant legal instruments e.g., Ombudsman (created by the South African Government) to address their dissatisfaction regarding goods and services delivery. Having a better understanding of how to use these legal instruments is empowering for all South African consumers as they will know and be able to apply their rights within the country and the marketplace, respectively.
Sections of the Constitution of South Africa are placed alongside the Consumer Protection Act to bring about a better understanding as to South African citizen’s legal rights and the impact they have on legislation pertaining to the South African consumer. The eBook aims to be interactive therefore, throughout the eBook various active hyperlinks will lead you directly to the relevant complaint forms or websites to assist you in addressing your issue. There is an alphabetically listed Ombud directory and a more detailed explanation of their function in their industry sector’s chapter.
By becoming empowered with the knowledge shared in this eBook, all South Africans should have a better understanding of the rules, regulations, legislation, and bylaws of the various industry sectors in the country which will enable them to address their dissatisfactions accordingly.

Linda Boshoff has spent 20 years in advertising including a fair amount of time in production and publishing. Thereafter she spent 10 years in the fitness industry. However, things changed during the Covid period and working in the fitness industry became less feasible. Sport relief funding was obtained from the Government which she invested into further education. She enrolled into the University of Witwatersrand, completing the WitsPlus abridged programme which allowed entry into studying a general BA Degree. It has always been her desire to study Law and therefore Commercial Law was chosen as one of her first-year subjects. The ‘Best performance in Commercial Law I for 2022’ was awarded to Linda.
However, Linda had to take a gap year in 2023 because of health issues which she is still addressing. Not sitting on her laurels though, and with the encouragement of Advocate André Janse van Rensburg and close friends, her journey on social media started.
